The International College of the Cayman Islands earns reaccreditation; 35 years of continuous international accreditation.
The International College of the Cayman Islands has achieved another major win for its students this year, by being re-accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS).
This means that students earning degrees at ICCI are assured that ICCI meets or exceeds international standards in all of its academic programs.
“We are so thrilled,” said Dr. David Marshall, ICCI President. “Our entire team of faculty and staff worked very hard for months to write our re-accreditation application. Their efforts have really validated that our students are receiving a very high quality education,” he said.
Initially accredited in 1979, accreditation must be periodically re-evaluated. Preparations for the renewal are extremely rigorous. “We are judged on student retention, graduation rates, student learning outcomes, and job placements of our graduates,” said Dr. Marshall. “ACICS is a very tough accrediting body. It means serious business when it comes to student outcomes. We either have to be in compliance with accreditation standards, fix any problems if ACICS determines that we are out of compliance, or be removed from membership; it’s just that simple,” said Marshall.
“Council representatives came to the campus in February and sat in on classes to evaluate teaching methods as well as interviewed students and faculty. All these elements are compared to senior level colleges and universities in the US.”
Based in Washington D.C., ACICS is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as a national accrediting agency and is recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation
“The accreditation process is rigorous and designed to ensure continual growth and improvement to the academic programs at the International College of the Cayman Islands. We are pleased to have received a 4 year grant ensuring our students receive their degree from an accredited institution. It would not have been possible without the hard work of the faculty and staff at ICCI,” said Board Chair April Cummings.
Founded in 1970, the International College of the Cayman Islands the Birthplace of Tertiary Education in the Cayman Islands. The College is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools to award associates, bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
The mission of the International College of the Cayman Islands is to prepare students for career placement and enhancement. The ICCI education instills attitudes, behaviors, sensitivities, skills and knowledge that are essential to life and learning.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
